PHSA - BCCDC - Community Antimicrobial Stewardship Continuing Education

This course, developed by the Community Antimicrobial Stewardship program at the BC Centre for Disease Control, provides community-based practitioners with the latest evidence and treatment guidelines for the use of antibiotics in primary care, and basic principles and strategies for antimicrobial stewardship.

After completing this course learners will be able to:

• Discuss the epidemiology and etiology of various conditions which may require antibiotic treatment
• Describe diagnosis, prevention and treatment strategies
• Understand common instances when antibiotic treatment may not be necessary
• Determine how disclosure of beta-lactam allergy can be investigated and proper treatment provided

Certification: This 1-credit-per-hour Self-Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 3.5 Mainpro+ credits.
